What's Market Research all about?

From aspirin to heparin, from forceps to scalpels, providers of
medical products or services want to know what medical professionals
think of their products and services. Also, to be competitive, they
want to continue improving products after they've been put on the
market. For new products and services, businesses need to know what
medical professionals want. For existing products and/or services,
businesses need to know what medical professionals think of products
already available.

How Do Manufacturers know what I want?

They ASK!
They commission companies, like Ecker & Associates, to conduct market research. Where surveys and focus groups provide feedback regarding:
   "What is your opinion of this treatment?"
   "Would you prescribe this medication and why?"
   "Would you use this surgical procedure?"

I know what a survey is, but what's a Focus Group?

Like a Survey, a Focus Group gathers information from Medical Professionals like you. The difference is the setting and method. The setting or environment is a conference room. The Focus Group Will have from six(6) to twelve(12) respondents in attendance plus a moderator. The moderator presents the idea, product or service. Then he or she will ask each respondent for their opinion. The Focus Group is recorded on audio tape and sometimes on video tape. The Moderator takes the tape(s) back to the Client, who studies the tape(s) in depth.

I see how useful that can be, But what's in it for me?

    First, the opportunity to comment on the development of new products
    and services.
    Second, you get a chance to suggest improvements for those you
    already use.
    Third, you learn what other people think of the same products
    and services.
    Finally, you're always paid for sharing your opinions with us.
When you participate in a focus group, you're paid $100-$450 (depending on the group).

How do I go to one of these Focus Groups?

Ecker & Associates serves the San Francisco Bay Area. Respondents are selected from Ecker's Confidential Database. There are three(3) ways to get into the Ecker Database.

1.) Email your Name and address, so a registration form can be
mailed to you. "info@eckersf.com".

2.) Phone (650)-871-6800, and we'll take your demographic information
over the phone (this takes about 15 minutes).

3.) IF you have the time Click on the link Doctors, or
Nurses or Patients and you can fill out the form online.
