What's Market Research all about?

From browsers to baby diapers, Internet Providers to spaghetti sauce, all businesses need to offer products or services that people want. Also, to be competitive, products and services must continually reviewed.  New products and services are developed to satisfy consumers wants and needs.  A major part of the process is "market research". Ecker & Associates along with the Consumers in its database provide businesses with valuable insights (market research) regarding the potential success of a product or service. 

How Do Manufacturers know what I want?

They ASK you!
They commission market research at companies like Ecker & Associates, where surveys and focus groups ask the questions:
"What would you like to see?"
"What do you think of this plan?"
"How can we improve what we've made?"
and more...

I know what a survey is, but what's a Focus Group?

Like a Survey, a Focus Group gathers information from consumers like you. The difference is the setting and method. 
  • The Setting (environment)

    Generally, a conference room with a two way mirror is selected for the group's location. The Focus Group Will have from six(6) to twelve(12) respondents in attendance plus a moderator.

  • The Method

    The moderator presents the idea, product or service. Then each respondent is given an opportunity to express their opinion. The Focus Group is recorded on audio tape and sometimes on video tape. The Moderator takes the tape(s) back to the Client, who studies the tape(s) in depth.

I see how useful that can be, But what's in it for me?

  1. The opportunity to comment on the development of new products and services.
  2. A chance to improve products and services you already use.
  3. Hear what other people think of products and services that you use.
  4. You opinion has value, each group participant is rewarded monetarily.
    When you participate in a focus group, you're paid $40-$100 (depending on the group).

How do I go to one of these Focus Groups?

Ecker & Associates serves the San Francisco Bay Area. Respondents are selected from Ecker's Confidential Database. There are three(3) ways to get into the Ecker Database.

1.) Email your Name and address, so a registration form can be mailed to you. "ecker_info@eckersf.com".

2.) Phone (650)-871-6800, and we'll take your demographic information over the phone (this takes about 15 minutes).

3.) IF you have the time Click on the link Consumer Registration and you can fill out the form online.
